Vita
CV Sussi Hodel
I am self-taught and trained at the School of Classical Painting and was a student of André de Maertelaere, a Belgian expressionist. I have been a freelance artist since April 2015 and successfully completed the MAS Cultural Management degree at HSLU DFK Lucerne 2023.
My works can be found in numerous corporate and private collections in Switzerland and abroad.
Born in Denmark (Jutland) in 1971, I was introduced to the world of art as a child. It took me a long time to get involved in this profession myself, with various diversions that have benefited me in my work today. My works usually attract attention, appear loud and yet are profound and often reflective, so that they involuntarily trigger something emotional.
My oil paintings are technically demanding; with palette knife, brush, loose pigments, pastels and skilfully placed accents. Years of refining the style and trying out new things, a perpetual process that only serves to stage the motif in the best possible way and to achieve a formative effect and a statement. It’s usually the people who captivate me and find their way onto my canvas. It is an urge to capture the deeper emotional expression that looks back at me and to capture it on the canvas.
I am a member of Visarte.Zentralschweiz, have exhibited on several continents and work in an interdisciplinary way.
